Imre Lakatos (1922-1974) is known world-wide by at least two different groups of philosophers. For the philosophers of science, he was a great defender of scientific rationality: he gave up the idea of ‘instant’ methodological rationality and substituted it with the historiographical methodology based on the notion of ‘rational reconstruction’.
