The Mongols [a] are an East Asian ethnic group native to Mongolia, China (majority in Inner Mongolia ), as well as Buryatia and Kalmykia of Russia. The Mongols are the principal member of the large family of Mongolic peoples.
The vast majority of citizens are ethnic Mongols, with roughly 5% of the population being Kazakhs, Tuvans, and other ethnic minorities, who are especially concentrated in the western regions.
There are over 20 different groups of Mongols.
