17. Nov. 2010 · In the quiet churchyard of St. Mary Magdalen’s catholic Church, an expedition-style tent marks the final resting place of Richard Francis Burton and his doting wife, Isabel Arundell.
Burton's grave, just a few paces away from the tomb of Alistair MacLean. Burton died from intracerebral haemorrhage on 5 August 1984 at his home in Céligny, Switzerland, at the age of 58. Although his death was sudden, his health had been declining for several years, and he suffered from constant and severe neck pain.
