Die Weltraummission Rosetta der ESA erforschte den Kometen Tschurjumow-Gerassimenko. Die gleichnamige Sonde startete am 2. März 2004, erreichte den Orbit des Kometen im August 2014 [1] und verblieb in diesem mehr als zwei Jahre, währenddessen der Komet sein Perihel durchquerte.

Die Esa-Sonde „Rosetta“ soll nicht nur einen Kometen umrunden, sie soll erstmals auch ein Landemodul auf dem Himmelskörper absetzen. Forscher vergleichen die Mission mit der ersten Mondlandung.
