Van Gogh FAQs I’m Willem van Gogh, family of Vincent and Theo. Theo was married to Johanna van Gogh-Bonger and in 1890, they gave birth to a son called Vincent Willem. In 1962, he founded the Vincent van Gogh Foundation, which assumed responsibility for all the works in the family collection.
Vincent was a common name in the Van Gogh family. The name had been borne by his grandfather, the prominent art dealer Vincent (1789–1874), and a theology graduate at the University of Leiden in 1811. This Vincent had six sons, three of whom became art dealers, and may have been named after his great-uncle, a sculptor (1729–1802).
In the meantime, Theo had married Jo Bonger. They have a son, and name him after Vincent. Vincent starts to worry. Theo now has a family to look after, and he is concerned that his brother will no longer be able to support him.
