Belur Math. Coordinates: 22°37′57″N 88°21′23″E. Belur Math ( pronounced [ˈbeluɽ ˈmɔʈʰ]) is the headquarters of the Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, founded by Swami Vivekananda, the chief disciple of Ramakrishna Paramahamsa. It is located in Belur, West Bengal, India on the west bank of Hooghly River. [2] .
Belur Math (Bengalisch: বেলুড়মঠ, beluṛmaṭh) ist eine hinduistische Klosteranlage (Math) im Norden Haoras, einer Nachbarstadt von Kolkata. Sie wurde 1899 als Sitz der zwei Jahre zuvor von Vivekananda gegründeten Ramakrishna-Mission etabliert und ist ebenfalls Sitz des Mönchordens Ramakrishna Math.
Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission ( RKM) is a spiritual and philanthropic organisation headquartered in Belur Math, West Bengal. [1] [2] The mission is named after the Indian Hindu spiritual guru and mystic Ramakrishna. [1] . The mission was founded by Ramakrishna's chief disciple Swami Vivekananda on 1 May 1897. [1] .
Heute existieren über 110 Zentren in ganz Indien. Besondere Schwerpunkte liegen in Westbengalen und Tamil Nadu. Dabei handelt es sich um Missionen, Klöster (Math), Ashrams, Krankenhäuser und Schulen. Der Hauptsitz der Mission ist Belur Math in Haora, unweit von Dakshineshwar, wo Ramakrishna lebte und starb.
