    Life and career. Joss was born in England in 1955 and from the age of four, grew up in Ayrshire, Scotland. She is the author of eight novels, including the Sara Selkirk series, and Half Broken Things, [1] which won the Crime Writers Association (CWA) Silver Dagger Award.
