5. Sept. 2014 · HAVANATIMES — I recently visited the town of Quivicán, located 21 kilometers south of Havana. It is one of the 11 municipalities of the new province called Mayabeque and has a population of just over 29,000 inhabitants. Here’s a little of what I saw.
Quivicán is a town and municipality in Mayabeque Province of Cuba. It is located in the south west of the province, bordering the Gulf of Batabanó. The name is of Taino origin (spelled Quibicán). It was founded in 1700.
