Juli 2023 · イングランド西部のエイヴォン川河口に位置する港湾都市ブリストル（Bristol）。 古くから交易都市として栄え、ヨーロッパ中の船が集まる貿易港とうたわれたこともあります。 一時衰退した時代もありますが、高度な製造技術を持っていたことから飛行機や自動車などの機械工業の街として活気を取り戻していきます。 第二次世界大戦時にドイツ軍の爆撃による被害を受けたものの、再開発が進んだ現在、ブリストル大聖堂をはじめとする歴史的建造物とアートやエンターテインメントが一挙に楽しめる街となりました。 ロンドン中心部からブリストルまでは、鉄道で1時間半ほどの距離 です。 温泉の町として栄えたバースには約15分、ウェールズ地方の首都であるカーディフにも約1時間でアクセスできるので、滞在地としても適しています。
