May 2, 1975. Charlotte Hall Historic District is a national historic district in Charlotte Hall, St. Mary's County, Maryland. It encompasses a small village along "Old Route 5." It includes 13 recorded buildings and sites of historic and/or architectural interest as well as the main campus of the Charlotte Hall Military Academy.
Charlotte Hall School was founded in 1774 as the consolidation of the free schools in the four southernmost counties in Maryland. It was continuously active as a military academy from 1796 to 1976. - Survey number: HABS MD-682-A
