Gordonstoun is one of the UK’s top independent schools for boarding and day pupils aged 4 ½ to 18. Our school was voted the best boarding school in the UK in 2021 and described as 'outstanding' and 'sector-leading' in its most recent inspection. Gordonstoun has been the world leader in character education for over 80 years and was the birthplace of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.
Gordonstoun’s founder, Kurt Hahn, was keen to extend his educational ethos to the local community and not just those in the School. He therefore set up the Moray Badge (the precursor to the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award) which started at Gordonstoun and Elgin Academy in 1936 and then spread to other schools in Moray. 26. März 2021 · Gordonstoun was founded by Dr. Kurt Hahn in 1934 as a learning institution where young people could truly thrive. In 2019, HM Inspectors would put the school to a rigorous test, concluding that “the extensive range of opportunities for personal achievements in the senior school, as part of the Gordonstoun broader curriculum is outstanding.”.
Gordonstoun. Gordonstoun is located in the beautiful, rugged countryside of Northern Scotland. The school lives and breathes its credo "There is more in you", which was coined by Kurt Hahn, the German pedagogue and founder of the school. Everything here is about character-building and impelling pupils to challenge themselves.
