Edward „Ed“ Asner, auch Eddie Asner, war ein US-amerikanischer Schauspieler sowie Filmproduzent, Synchronsprecher und Menschenrechtsaktivist. Eddie Asner [1] ( / ˈæznər /; November 15, 1929 – August 29, 2021) was an American actor. He is most notable for portraying Lou Grant during the 1970s and early 1980s, on both The Mary Tyler Moore Show and its spin-off series Lou Grant, making him one of the few television actors to portray the same character in both a comedy and a drama.
In 1955, he appeared off-Broadway in the leading role of the beggar king Jonathan Peachum in Brecht's Threepenny Opera. Five years later, he made his debut on the Great White Way in the courtroom drama Face of a Hero, co-starring alongside Jack Lemmon. He also began regular TV work in anthology drama.
