Am 16.01.1942 stürzte ein Torpedo-Bomber der US-Streitkräfte mit drei Mann Besatzung während einer Aufklärungsmission in den Südpazifik. „Against the Sun“ beruht auf dieser realen Begebenheit während des Zweiten Weltkriegs, wie auch im Abspann des Films ausgeführt wird mit Bildern von den „echten“ drei Überlebenden und weiteren Informationen zu der 1.000 Meilen langen Seereise.

There’s nothing wrong with this approach, but there’s also nothing special about it.
