Johnny Thunders (15 de julho de 1952 – 23 de abril de 1991), pseudônimo de John Anthony Genzale Jr., foi um guitarrista, vocalista e compositor estadunidense de rock and roll/punk rock. Ele foi bastante conhecido no começo dos anos 1970, por ser guitarrista da banda nova-iorquina The New York Dolls .
Johnny Thunders urodził się i wychowywał w Jackson Heights (w nowojorskiej dzielnicy Queens) w rodzinie włoskich katolików przybyłych wcześniej do USA z Avellino. Jako nastolatek lubił grać w baseballa, lecz nie został przyjęty do drużyny z powodu swoich długich włosów, których nie chciał obciąć.
