Mit dem Drehbuchautor und Produzenten Emeric Pressburger bildete der Regisseur und Produzent Michael Powell (1905 - 1990) in den 40er und frühen 50er Jahren eines der erfolgreichsten Gespanne der Filmgeschichte. Ihre Firma The Archers gehörte zu den bedeutenden Produktionsgesellschaften jener Jahre.
