A 1991 cover version by Vic Reeves and the Wonder Stuff reached number one in the UK. The song has also been covered by Bob the Builder (voiced by Neil Morrisey ) on the character's debut album in 2001 changing the lyrics to be about the character Dizzy.
After appearing on One Hour with Jonathan Ross, they were commissioned to produce their own show, Vic Reeves' Big Night Out, and went on to become one of the '90s most successful comedy duos, thanks to shows like Shooting Stars and The Smell of Reeves & Mortimer.
