Thorbjørn Jagland er en norsk politiker. Jagland var leder af Det Norske Arbeiderpartis ungdomsbevægelse (AUF) 1977-1981, utredningssekretær i Arbeiderpartiet 1981-1986, partisekretær 1986-1992 og statsminister 1996-1997. I 1992 indledtes et generationsskifte i Arbeiderpartiet, da Gro Harlem Brundtland trak sig tilbage som partileder, og Jagland blev valgt som hendes efterfølger.

Thorbjørn Jagland was elected Secretary General of the Council of Europe in 2009. In 2014, he was the first ever Secretary General to be re-elected for a second mandate. He is also a member of the Norwegian Nobel Committee, which awards the Nobel Peace Prize every year. Mr Jagland was born on 5 November 1950 in Drammen, Norway.
