Biografie. Claes Thure Oldenburg wurde am 28. Januar 1929 in Stockholm geboren. Oldenburg studierte in den Jahren von 1946 bis 1950 an der Yale Universität in New Haven englische Literatur und Kunst. Darüber hinaus ließ er sich dort im Aktzeichnen und in Komposition ausbilden. Ab dem Jahr 1953 war er Schüler am Art Institut in Chicago.

Oldenburg (1929-2022) and van Bruggen (1942–2009) were married Swedish-American and American-Dutch sculptors (respectively), best known for their Installation art typically featuring very large replicas of everyday objects.

Claes Oldenburg studied literature and art history at Yale University and the Art Institute of Chicago.
