Donald George Powell (born 10 September 1946) is an English musician who was the drummer for glam rock and later hard rock group Slade for over fifty years. Early life. As a child, Powell joined the Boy Scouts where he became interested in the drums after being asked to join the band on a Sunday morning parade.

4. März 2020 · Erst vor wenigen Wochen wurde Schlagzeuger Don Powell nach mehr als fünf Jahrzehnten aus den Diensten von Slade entlassen. Nun meldet sich das Gründungsmitglied der Glam-Rocker erneut mit schlechten Nachrichten: Am Wochenende hatte Powell einen leichten Schlaganfall.
21. Mai 2022 · Legendary Slade drummer Don Powell has been allowed home from hospital just 48 hours after a four-and-a-half-hour operation for bowel cancer.
For some years Don was a keen schoolboy athlete, practising every night after school. He competed in the mile and cross-country events in the Midlands Amateur Association championships. For three years he was a member of the Bilston Athletics Club. With boxing, Don was classed as a middleweight.
Don performs more gigs in Docken and Malmo - the Malmo gig on 3 November 2019 will be the last time he appears onstage with Dave Hill. Don announces he has left Slade and is forming a new band Don Powell's Slade with Craig Fenney.
