The number of 18- to 25-year-olds who fled the republic rose from 40,452 in 1955 to 80,280 in 1955, that is, by about 100%, while the total number of those who fled the republic increased by 56%. The age group 25–35 showed an increase of 60% (from 29,905 to 45,855).
