Bohr family. The Bohr family is a Danish family of scientists, scholars and amateur sportsmen. Bohr, Aage Niels (1922-) Danish physicist born in Copenhagen on June 19, 1922 as the fourth son of Margarethe and Niels Bohr. He entered the Copenhagen University in 1940, following the steps of his father. By that time, Aage was already assisting his father with mail and writing papers.
Aage Niels Bohr (19 June 1922, Copenhagen - 8 September 2009, Copenhagen) was a Danish physicist and the fourth son of Margrethe Bohr and Niels Bohr. He won the Nobel Prize in 1975 [2] for his works in physics : he discovered the connection of the collective motion and the single-motion particle in the atomic nucleus, and also for the development of the nuclear structure.
The Nobel Prize in Physics 1975 was awarded jointly to Aage Niels Bohr, Ben Roy Mottelson and Leo James Rainwater "for the discovery of the connection between collective motion and particle motion in atomic nuclei and the development of the theory of the structure of the atomic nucleus based on this connection"
Hier lernte Niels Bohr auch Margrethe Nørlund kennen, die er später heiratete. Gemeinsam mit ihr hatte er sechs Söhne, von denen zwei schon in jungen Jahren starben.
