  5. October is Domestic Violence Action (Awareness) Month (DVAM). Each October, communities across the nation join together to recognize the prevalence of domestic violence and honor those who have been affected by violence with vigils, walks, and other awareness-raising activities. DVAM was first recognized in October of 1987.

  6. About Us. Partners for Peace has two important goals: Partners for Peace was formed from the collaborative merger of Spruce Run and Womancare on October 1, 2013. Spruce Run was the first domestic violence project in Maine and just the third in the country when we incorporated in 1973. Womancare was incorporated in the State of Maine in 1979.
