Maroš Šefčovič is a Slovak diplomat and since 1 November 2014 Vice President of the European Commission in charge of the Energy Union. In this role he is responsible for establishing a European Energy Union by connecting infrastructures, enforcing legislation and increasing competition to help drive down costs for citizens and businesses and boost growth.

Šefčovič was handed the powerful role of executive vice president by Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

Prior to this, he served as European Commissioner for Education, Training, Culture and Youth from 2009 to 2010 and Vice-President of the European Commission for Interinstitutional Relations and Administration from 2010 to 2014.
Maroš Šefčovič. V roku 1996 sa stal zástupcom riaditeľa odboru krajín Európskej únie (EÚ) a Severoatlantickej aliancie (NATO), o rok na to bol zástupcom riaditeľa kancelárie ministra zahraničných vecí. V roku 1998 bol už riaditeľom kancelárie a v tom roku odišiel do Bruselu, kde bol zástupca vedúceho misie SR pri EÚ.
