In 1940 Edith Head married one of her best friends, Wiard Boppo (Bill) Ihnen, a Paramount set designer. They remained together until his death in 1979, enjoying a very private life in their Hollywood hacienda, Casa Ladera. Hollywood recognized the petite designer in 1974 with her own star on Hollywood Boulevard, an honor she had indeed earned.
