31. Mai 2022 · In 1977, two men posing as officers of the law pulled over Lorre’s daughter, Catharine. Once they realized who she was, they decided to let her go. Years later, Catharine learned that those “officers” had actually been the infamous “Hillside Strangler”, Angelo Buono, and his accomplice Kenneth Bianchi. In the end, even real-life baddies respected Lorre.
Lorre left Warner Bros. in 1946 with the idea of taking charge of his career.  Unfortunately, his self-management enterprise—Lorre, Inc.—was an overwhelming failure. He still needed to prove to himself that he could rise from the Hollywood morass (what Brecht described as a swamp). If he couldn’t take that first independent step in America, then Europe might do.
17. März 2024 · Catharine’s life was met with tragedy early on, as her mother died in 1971, leaving her to fend for herself within the Los Angeles area. This was unfortunately a dangerous period in Hollywood ...

Catharine Lorre lived 32 years before her premature death. Her life was a troubled one. Orphaned at only 17 yrs of age, she only had had 11 years with her Dad, and 17 years with her Mom. Catharine had a few years as well with a husband who lost his life in a tragic motorcycle accident, leaving her a widow.
