Best remembered as the in-house backing band of the Stax record label. The band’s name is a combination of organist Booker T. Jones 's first names and the acronym for “Memphis Group”, MG. Other members were Al Jackson Jr. (drums), Steve Cropper (guitar), and Lewis Steinberg (bass guitar) who was replaced by Donald "Duck" Dunn in 1963.

Wobei BOOKER T. und seine M.G.s hier ihren Klassiker abliefern: Green Onions. Wer kennt nicht die Titelnummer (bekannt aus Radio, TV, als Signation etc.). Als ich die CD das erste Mal spielte, kam mir das Ah-HaErlebnis: Das ist also BOOKER T. Die ganze CD geht so weiter, leichte eingängige Hammondorgelmusik (vielleicht schon einmal irgendwo gehört!?) aus dem Jahre 1962.

Probably Booker T's best effort with their brand of funky R&B very interesting and unique variety mix - completely enjoyable - front to back. Not sure why this one isn't sold off the shelves to collectors. Booker T plays lead with his infectious Hammond B3 and interplays with guitar and bass with some trumpet, sax and vocal background with a driving rhythm. Top shelf.
