  2. Merton College. Merton is a beautiful old college with a welcoming atmosphere where people feel free to get involved with what they want. Whatever your goals at Oxford, in drama, music, sport, or indeed work, at Merton there’ll always be a tight-knit community supporting you.

  3. Founded in 1264 AD, Merton is one of the oldest colleges in Oxford. It is home to the oldest academic library in continuous use anywhere in Europe, built between 1373 and 1378. The buildings around the College span many time periods and illustrate several different architectural styles. The oldest buildings still standing date to the 1280s.

  4. Merton College is currently closed to general visitors but members of the public are always welcome for chapel services and events. The choirs are exceptionally good as is the organ, so a detour for evensong (tues to thurs at 615) or for the organ recital (thurs at 115) will prove well worthwhile. Enjoy the architecture as much as the music.
