Rodney has enjoyed a great music career as a member of The Candymen with Roy Orbison, then ARS and later forming the southern rock band Beaverteeth...Buffalo will also be spinning new tracks from The Outlaws, Chuck Johnson, Tedeschi Trucks Band and more!
1970-1972 - ARS is Formed and Starts Recording. The story of the Atlanta Rhythm Section began in Doraville, GA, a small town northeast of Atlanta, in 1970. Local Atlanta engineer Rodney Mills built a new studio in Doraville with the support of music publisher Bill Lowery, producer/songwriter/manager Buddy Buie, and songwriter/guitarist J.R. Cobb.

Nov. 2023 · Local Hit Songwriter Buddy Buie, assembled the band which comprised singer Rodney Justo, guitarist Barry Bailey, bassist Paul Goddard, keyboardist Dean Daughtry, and drummer Robert Nix. After playing on several artists' recordings, it was decided to take the band a step further and make the group of players a real band, leading to the formation of the ARS. Nov. 2023 · Rounding out the original ARS lineup were vocalist Rodney Justo (replaced after the first album by Ronnie Hammond), guitarist Barry Bailey, and bassist Paul Goddard. “So into You” became the band’s breakthrough single in 1977, reaching the U.S. Top 10, and the album from which it came, A Rock and Roll Alternative , went gold.
