  1. Founded April 26, 1930 as the Leningrad Textile Institute, spun off from the Leningrad Institute of Technology. On November 6, 1930, the institute moved to its main educational and laboratory building located on Bolshaya Morskaya Street in Leningrad, where the first faculties - engineering and economic, technological - were established.
