Noble and Greenough School is dedicated to maintaining a safe environment and cultivating wellness for all community members, consistent with the community principles detailed in our mission. The relational pedagogy that serves as the bedrock of life at Nobles provides opportunities each day to form mentoring relationships with advisors, counselors, teachers, coaches and more.
In 1866, George Washington Copp Noble founded Noble’s Classical School, a boys’ day school known informally as “Nobles.” It was renamed Noble and Greenough in 1892 when James Greenough, a mathematics and science teacher, partnered with Mr. Nobles, and they relocated from Boston’s Beacon Hill neighborhood to Back Bay.
Student clubs and organizations meet during free blocks of time during the school day. Through these groups, Nobles students pursue long-standing passions, test out budding interests, and forge friendships with peers and faculty.
Nobles employs the award-winning team from Flik Independent School Dining to operate our state of the art kitchen and provide our community with fresh, healthy and delicious meals every day. Lunch always consists of a hot entree and sides, soups, composed salads, fresh fruit, and a salad bar, sandwich bar, quesadilla bar, and dessert.
The Noble and Greenough Athletic Program supports the school’s community principles of honesty and respect for self and others while working to realize individual and group potential. Excellence in athletics depends upon sportsmanship, hard work, self-discipline, humility, pride, and commitment to the team experience.
