Der Einstein-Szilárd-Brief vom 2. August 1939 war ein von Leó Szilárd verfasstes und von Albert Einstein unterzeichnetes Schreiben an US-Präsident Franklin D. Roosevelt, in dem sie diesen auf die Konsequenzen der kurz zuvor in Nazi-Deutschland erfolgten Entdeckung der Kernspaltung hinwiesen, insbesondere auf den möglichen Bau von Atombomben.
Leó Szilárd, né le 11 février 1898 à Budapest et mort le 30 mai 1964 à La Jolla en Californie, est un physicien hongro-américain. Parmi les premiers à envisager les applications militaires de l' énergie nucléaire dès 1933 , il a participé au projet Manhattan tout en menant une action publique contre l'utilisation de ces armes et promouvant le désarmement.

Leó Szilárd February 11, 1898 – May 30, 1964) was a Hungarian-American physicist and inventor. He conceived the nuclear chain reaction in 1933, patented the idea of a nuclear reactor with Enrico Fermi , and in late 1939 wrote the letter for Albert Einstein 's signature that resulted in the Manhattan Project that built the atomic bomb .
