Ende der 1970er Jahre sang Scott noch im Background der ehemaligen Supremes-Sängerin Mary Wilson, danach wurde es endgültig still um sie. Nach dem vorläufigen Ende ihrer Musikkarriere, zog Scott für mehrere Jahre nach Guam, bevor sie sich Anfang der 1990er Jahre kurz mit der Single It's So Wonderful zurückmeldete.

Active since the mid-'60s, she has enjoyed a lengthy career with links to other R&B legends such as Sly Stone, Ike & Tina Turner, and Mary Wilson. Scott released her second album, So Wonderful, in 2022.

The song earned Scott her first Grammy Award in 2005, for Best Urban/Alternative Performance. Don't Play Us Cheap. was an American soul singer and songwriter. Powdrill was best known for being a member of the Ikettes in the 1960s. She began her career as a solo artist recording for Reprise Records and Downey Records.
