  5. GSAL was formed in 2008 following the merger of two large, selective single-sex schools: Leeds Girls' High School and Leeds Grammar School. All ages 3-18 are housed on a 140 acre campus on the Northern edge of Leeds, with outstanding facilities. The school is co-educational throughout for pastoral and co-curricular purposes but, in Years 7-11, there are single-gender classes for most subjects.

The Grammar School at Leeds ( GSAL) is an independent day school in Leeds, England, created on 4 August 2005 by the merger of Leeds Grammar School (founded c. 1552) and Leeds Girls' High School (co-founded in 1876 by Frances Lupton ). The schools merged in September 2008, at which point the school was opened to both sexes.
