Our resident Local History Archivist, Dr Oates, casts his eye over the Great Ealing School.
Great Ealing School was situated on St Mary's Road, Ealing W5 London and was founded in 1698. In its heyday of the 19th century, it was as famous as Eton or Harrow, being considered "the best private school in England" .

16. Nov. 2015 · The boys attended Great Ealing School which stood in the present Ranelagh Road, close to St Mary’s Church. The headmaster was Dr Nicholas and the Adamses soon became close friends with the Nicholas family. The diary is full of references to them and to the other friends and acquaintances Adams made in the area.
