Engagierte Lehrerinnen und Lehrer des Max-Born-Berufskollegs gründeten im Jahre 2007 aus den genannten Gründen die Max und Gustav Born Stiftung. Die finanzielle Basis des Stiftungsvermögens kam durch Spenden zusammen. Namhafte Recklinghäuser Unternehmer trugen zum Grundkapital bei und ermunterten zur Selbsthilfe.

Bald schon abgeschlossen ist die Vertonung des plattdeutschen Sprachschatzes von Gustav Born. Originale Sprecher des Usselner Platts sind seit November 2018 dabei, die alten Texte auf zu sprechen.
