Steve Peregrin Took (born Stephen Ross Porter; 28 July 1949 – 27 October 1980) was an English musician. He is best known for his membership of the duo Tyrannosaurus Rex with Marc Bolan. After breaking with Bolan, he concentrated on his own singer-songwriting activities, variously as a solo artist or as a frontman for several bands.
Steve Peregrin Took. Born Eltham as Stephen Ross Porter, His new name came from The Hobbit. Original founder in 1967 of Tyrannosaurus Rex with Bolan. Died, aged 31 years, after choking on a cocktail cherry at home at 100 Cambridge Gardens, W10, though drugs may have had something to do with it.
And now it's the turn of Steve Peregrin Took although not, of course, for the first time. The basis of this collection is a trio of tracks cut in 1977 by the five-piece Horns at Pathway in London. Whilst cassettes of this material have circulated amongst a small circle of devotees for many years, thankfully copies evaded the grasp of unscrupulous parties.
