Biography. When John Aspinwall Roosevelt was born on July 27, 1840, in Poughkeepsie, New York, his father, Isaac, was 50 and his mother, Mary, was 30. He married Ellen Murray Crosby on June 6, 1866, in his hometown. They had two children during their marriage. He died on March 11, 1909, at the age of 68, and was buried in Hyde Park, New York.

John Aspinwall Roosevelt was an American businessman and the sixth and last child of U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt, and his wife, Eleanor Roosevelt, and the only Roosevelt son who never sought political office.
