Seit der Gründung im Jahr 1961 hat Mountain Equipment zahlreiche Erstbegehungen der höchsten Berge der Welt begleitet, Bergsteiger beim Erschließen neuer Routen unterstützt und Expeditionen zu beiden Polen ausgerüstet. Zu dieser Zeit waren dreizehn der vierzehn 8000er bestiegen, alle hohen Wände in den Alpen bezwungen und beide Pole erreicht.
