He was a member of the World's Greatest Jazz Band in 1969 and 1970. In 1974, he moved to England and continued to record and perform. [1] Freeman spent some time on the Isle of Man and was a guest of Manx musician Jim Caine. After returning to Chicago in 1980, he continued to work into his eighties.

US jazz tenor saxophonist and clarinetist. Born 13 April 1906 in Chicago, Illinois. Died 15 March 1991 in the same city. Freeman started on C melody saxophone in 1923. In 1925 he switched to tenor saxophone. He was one of the most influential jazz tenorists of the swing era.
