Akira Yoshino ( japanisch 吉野 彰 Yoshino Akira; * 30. Januar 1948 in Suita, Präfektur Osaka) ist ein japanischer Ingenieur. Er ist vor allem für die marktreife Entwicklung von Lithium-Ionen-Batterien bekannt. 2019 wurde er mit dem Nobelpreis für Chemie ausgezeichnet.
Akira Yoshino (吉野 彰, Yoshino Akira, born 30 January 1948) is a Japanese chemist. He is a fellow of Asahi Kasei Corporation and a professor at Meijo University in Nagoya. He created the first safe, production-viable lithium-ion battery, which became used widely in cellular phones and notebook computers.

My major was quantum organic chemistry. At the time, the Department of Petrochemistry was a very prestigious one at Kyoto University. The faculty included Professor Kenichi Fukui, who would go on to receive the 1981 Nobel Prize in Chemistry.
