John W. Davis (1873-1955) was a US lawyer who argued many constitutional cases before the Supreme Court and ran for president in 1924. He was also a US ambassador to Britain and a critic of the New Deal and school integration.
John W. Davis was a distinguished constitutional lawyer and former presidential candidate who defended segregation in the landmark Supreme Court case of Brown v. Board of Education. He argued that the equal protection clause did not require integration and that the states had made good faith efforts to equalize facilities.
