Stummfilmdrama von G. W. Pabst: Gefallenes Mädchen macht Karriere. Nach Verführung, Kindestod und Besserungsanstalt rettet sich die junge Thymian (Louise Brooks) in ein Bordell, wo sie „avanciert“. Als geachtete Gattin eines Grafen wirkt sie schließlich für die Rettung gefährdeter Mädchen.
