Not long after they entered the studio, Dave "Dixie" Collins accidentally shot himself in the foot, blasting off one of his big toes, whilst he was cleaning his favorite shotgun and was reported to be bedridden for the next few weeks during his recovery.
Dave Collins, better known as "Dixie", is a musician born in Wilmington, North Carolina. Known for his distinctively raspy voice and wild stage presence, he is best known as the one of the core members of Weedeater.

Die Band wurde im Jahr 1997 von dem Bassisten und Sänger Dave „Dixie“ Collins und dem Gitarristen Keith Kirkum gegründet, nachdem sich deren vorherige Band Buzzov•en aufgelöst hatte. Im Jahr 2001 folgte über Berserker Records das Debütalbum …and Justice for Y’all, dem sich 2002 das zweite Album Sixteen Tons anschloss.
