Peter Field Jefferson (February 29, 1708 – August 17, 1757) was a planter, cartographer and politician in colonial Virginia best known for being the father of the third president of the United States, Thomas Jefferson.
Peter Jefferson became a founding justice of the peace, a judge of the court of chancery, and a lieutenant colonel of the militia in Albemarle County. [16] His new duties were forestalled, however, by the death of his friend William Randolph.
