Killarney is the largest secondary school in Vancouver by area, and a comprehensive school currently with around 2,000 students in Grades 8–12 with 167 teaching and non-teaching staff. Extra-curricular activities are abundant, with more than 35 clubs and a full inter-high school sports program.
When construction of Killarney Secondary along 49th Avenue near Kerr Street began in 1956, the site was surrounded by vacant lots. Opened in the fall of 1957, the school was named after Killarney, Ireland because of the many Irish immigrant pioneers in the South Vancouver area.
About. We are a Catholic girls' Secondary School located in Killarney, Co. Kerry, serving the catchment area of Killarney and its hinterland. The school is situated adjacent to the Presentation Convent (founded in 1793) and St. Mary's Cathedral. Close by is Killarney National Park.
