Maybelle and Ezra Carter House. / 36.67389°N 82.40278°W / 36.67389; -82.40278. Maybelle and Ezra Carter House is a historic home located at Maces Spring, Scott County, Virginia. The original one-story, frame dwelling was enlarged by an additional 1/2-story for more bedroom space in the 1920s-1930s.
Mother Maybelle Carter was a country music pioneer and a member of the Carter Family. She married Ezra Carter in 1926 and had three children with him.

On March 13, 1926, Maybelle married Ezra Carter. They had three daughters, Helen, June, and Anita. [4] She was a member of the Carter Family, formed in 1927 by her brother-in-law, A. P. Carter, who was married to her cousin Sara, also a part of the trio. The Carter Family was one of the first commercial rural country music groups.
In March of 1926, fate brought 16-year-old Maybelle even closer as she married A.P.’s younger brother Ezra ‘Eck’ Carter and moved to their side of the mountain. A year later, the duo had become a trio, with Sara singing lead, Maybelle a higher harmony, and A.P. the bass part.
