The Electric Banana was a nightclub in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Beginning as a disco in the 1970s, it was a punk rock music venue from 1980 until 2000, and helped establish a place in alternative culture for the city of Pittsburgh.
Um finanziell über die Runden zu kommen, nahm die Band in dieser Zeit unter dem Namen The Electric Banana mehrere Alben mit Filmsoundtracks auf. Zudem waren sie 1969 in dem Film What’s Good For The Goose von Menahem Golan als sie selbst zu sehen.

The group recorded stock music for film soundtracks which were issued as the Electric Banana series of albums, and collaborated with other artists and bands in the 1990s, such as Pretty Things & the Yardbird Blues Band, and Pretty Things 'N Mates.
