The Chan Zuckerberg Initiative (CZI) is an organization established and owned by Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan with an investment of 99 percent of the couple's wealth from their Facebook shares over their lifetime.
In the last 100 years, biomedical science has made tremendous strides in understanding biological systems, advancing human health, and treating disease, but much more can be achieved in the years to come. We build open source software tools and leverage artificial intelligence to accelerate the pace of biomedicine.
The Chan Zuckerberg Initiative was founded in 2015 to help solve some of society’s toughest challenges — from eradicating disease and improving education, to addressing the needs of our local communities. Our mission is to build a more inclusive, just, and healthy future for everyone.
22. Sept. 2016 · The Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, which was created by the couple in December 2015, will invest the money in organisations and companies conducting medical research over the next ten years.
7. Dez. 2021 · CZI will build tools, launch institutes, and support research to observe and analyze any biological process throughout the human body. The initiative aims to advance biomedical science and technology and cure, prevent, or manage all disease by the end of the century.
