Peter William Brockbanks (15 July 1947 – 7 March 2013), known professionally as Peter Banks, was a British guitarist, vocalist, songwriter and producer. He was the original guitarist in the rock band Yes , Flash , and Empire; he was also a guitarist for The Syn .

Peter Banks und Chris Squire spielten in einer Band namens The Syn, welche bis 1967 zwei Singles herausbrachte. 1968 spielte Banks auch für kurze Zeit in der Band Neat Change , mit der er ebenfalls eine Single aufnahm.

Nice to Meet Miss Christine became the first release on Birth and featured a who's who of session players including Peter Banks (Banks is credited on two tracks, as above, although the liner notes say he "was drafted in to play acoustic and pedal steel guitar throughout the entire LP").
