    About Faculty. Faculty of History of Moscow State Pedagogical University is one of the oldest educational departments of the faculty. First its doors were opened in 1900 as a historical and philosophical department of Moscow Higher Women’s Courses, and later became faculty of history and philology.

  4. Before 1959, it was part of the History and Philology series, later — the Philology and Journalism Bulletin. Since 1965, it has been a standalone series of Moscow University Bulletin, labelled Series 10. Philology before 1976 and Series 9. Philology from 1976 to the present day. It is one of Russia’s leading periodicals in philology.

    At present the Faculty comprises 20 departments, 6 laboratories and research centres. The teaching staff consists of more than 350 lecturers and instructors, including a number of full members and corresponding members of the Russian and foreign Academies of Science, over 100 doctors and approximately 240 candidates.
